Book signing Ottakars Truro, September 25th 2003

<< Back

The launch of Winston Graham's autobiography was sponsored by Pan Macmillan the publishers who had also put on display the complete Poldark series of 12 books again, but in a completely new attractive reprint in both hard and soft covers. It was jointly attended by Winston's son and daughter Andrew Graham and Rosamund (Barteau) plus their families, as well as Angharad Rees and Robin Ellis with his wife Meredith.

First their joint arrival, then Angharad and Robin were each interviewed separately by South West TV. Then a photo shoot of them together with pens in hand followed by a short welcoming speech by the Director of Pan Macmillan himself before the individual busy book signing itself which lasted about an hour and a half. Gratefully accepting half an hour's coffee break with refreshments available for the 100 plus audience, they all finally reappeared back at the table again where Andrew asked if anyone would like to ask any questions. This very lively Q & A session lasted for about 45 minutes or so before final short speeches were made by Rosamund, Andrew, Angharad and Robin in turn.

Andrew Graham said in so many words that the photo of Winston walking away from one of his favourite Cornish spots (see above) was, they all felt, the most suitable and fitting picture for the dust cover of Winston's autobiography "Memoirs of a Private Man". Just behind Angharad's head are some of the new Poldark series reprints by Pan Macmillan with Bella at the top left and Demelza top right.
